Aerogel Coating: Advanced Thermal Insulation Technology for Modern Industries

图片
Aerogel coating has become one of the most innovative and high-performance insulation solutions in today’s industrial, construction, and energy sectors. Known for its ultra-low thermal conductivity, lightweight structure, and excellent fire resistance, aerogel coating provides significant advantages over traditional insulation materials. As industries push for higher energy efficiency, reduced emissions, and improved safety, aerogel-based coatings have gained rapid global adoption. This article explores what aerogel coating is, how it works, its key benefits, applications, and why it is considered a breakthrough in insulation technology. What Is Aerogel Coating? Aerogel coating is a liquid or semi-liquid insulation material formulated with aerogel particles—one of the lightest solid substances in the world. Aerogels are produced by replacing the liquid component of a gel with gas, resulting in a nano-porous structure that is over 90% air. When blended into a coating system, ae...

Classification of Aerogels

图片
There are various methods for classifying aerogels . According to the appearance of aerogels, they can be divided into monoliths, powders, and membranes. According to different microstructures, they can be classified into microporous (<2 nm) aerogels, mesoporous (2–50 nm) aerogels, and mixed porous aerogels. The most commonly used method for classifying aerogels is to distinguish them by their components, as shown in the following figure: Aerogels can be divided into two categories: single-component aerogels and aerogel composites. Single-component aerogels are divided into inorganic aerogels (silica-based and non-silica) and organic aerogels (resin-based and cellulose-based). Aerogel composites include multi-component aerogels, gradient aerogels, and micro/nano aerogel composites. Classification 1 Inorganic aerogel Inorganic aerogels are a class of porous materials with unique physical and chemical properties that have attracted much attention due to their extremely low densit...
